Cemetery History

The Order of Knights of Pythias (KP) was founded in 1864, and based its rituals on the story of Damon and Pythias, a Greek tale of trust and loyalty in friendship. Welcome Lodge # 30 of the Knights of Pythias was chartered in Roslyn on November 15, 1887. This cemetery contains several graves of miners killed in the May 10, 1892 mine explosion.

Notes

Cemetery is in very good condition and well cared for.  There is plenty of room for parking.   The oldest marked grave was from 1890 and the most recent burial was in 2004.

Cemetery Records

Records below were compiled by Suzanne Livingstone in April 2018 during a visit to the cemetery. These are the stones that are visible.  It is possible there may be other stones, some of which are no longer visible, either under grass or very weathered to where they are non legible.  It was noticed at least 13 additional burial plots that either didn’t have information or were not legible.

A free online library of cemetery records from thousands of cemeteries across the world, for historical and genealogy research.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
