Total records = 71.
Just west of Moses Lake, from I-90 take the
Warden exit and travel north about 1 mile. Turn right
at the stop sign and continue about 1 mile east, you will come to a sign that says Ruff. Turn left
(north) till you come to several very large grain
elevators. After Ruff continue on Road W NW about 4 more miles. Cemetery will be on the right.
This cemetery is considered to be in Ruff WA, which is still
a community. The cemetery is actually in the midst of a very rural
area. It contains the burials of many of the early German settlers
to this area. Judging from the dates on the stones, it started
at the turn of the century. It is not being used that often in
the last few years.
Schultz Memorial Cemetery, which is on one acre of land, was
donated by Martin Schulz, when his wife passed away in 1903. The
cemetery was known as the Ebenezer Geminde Cemetery for many years.
In later years it was renamed as the Ruff Memorial Cemetery Park.
In 1957, on May 03, a meeting was held at the home of Mr & Mrs
John Ruff. The cemetery was then renamed the Ruff Schultz Memorial
Cemetery and the metal sign was made and placed above the
entrance, to honor Martin Schultz. Harvey Ruff and his wife Susan
now own and maintain this cemetery.
I read this cemetery on May 21, 2005, using my digital camera,
with additions from family. This includes all existing stones
and markers to that date. Those followed by an * asterisk I did
not get a photo of.
