Meteor Cemetery

The cemetery is south of Twin Lakes. After you leave the lake take the Meteor-Kewa Rd for about 9 miles. There is a swamp on the left side of road, and cemetery is behind it. It is hard to spot, so I recommend you ask at a house.

The town of Meteor actually no longer exists except as an area. All the various structures which made it a town have disappeared except the cemetery. Meteor Cemetery is maintained by the families of those buried in it. It appeared to be well cared for.

On Jun 20, 2001 my granddaughter, Michelle Morris, and I visited and walked the Meteor cemetery. The two of us surveyed the cemetery, recording all visible headstones. So far I am unable to find any old records to compare our readings with. I did find three names in some old St Michael's Mission records.
