To reach this cemetery, drive south from Inchelium about 20mi, on Silvercreek
Road, to the Phyllis Banks farm, which is a few miles before Roger's Bar,
and is situated on the east side of Silvercreek Road.
To reach the cemetery you need permission from Mrs Banks, and then
it is a trek out behind the home, across the ravine and up a hill to
the cemetery.
When my guide, Byron Wing, and I went, it was difficult to keep our
footing. One had to dig a hole through the grass to the dirt, then take
a step etc, or you slid back down the hill. I fell more than once and
lost ground.
This was originally land owned by the Joseph family, but next to it
was the Dick family, land adjacent to the Joseph land. Therefore both
families used this cemetery for burial. Both properties are one now,
and owned by Phyllis Banks.
There are perhaps a couple dozen buried here, but the aging of the
markers and the neglect of the cemetery, have caused none to be left
to identify. There were a couple rocks for markers, a base, a broken
marker, with no writing visible. Then this one marker, which is newer.
I did get the names of a couple who have no remaining markers, and no
dates.
I visited this cemetery on Jul 12, 2003, and it was disappointing to
see the neglect of it. Totally overgrown with brush, grasses and weeds.
