Del Rio Cemetery
Douglas County, Washington

Lat: 48° 00' 17"N, Lon: 119° 13' 49"W
Sec 19 T29N R29E

Contributed by Pat Rice, Sep 30, 2000, updated Apr 18, 2009 [rcrice@centurytel.net]. Total records = 62.

The cemetery is about 16 miles west of Grand Coulee on Highway 174. Turn north from that highway at milepost 5, on Road U NE, the old Del Rio-Coulee City Road. Just over four miles the road T's at the Del Rio Grange Hall, go right, or east, for three miles. The cemetery is on the south side of the road in the NW corner of Section 19 T29N R29E.

According to this history, the cemetery was formed in 1910 on land donated by Ed Thoren. A small memorial in the form of a church stands along the road, commemorating the Del Rio Church. The cemetery is in a natural state, but is fenced.

Tombstones inscriptions for Del Rio Cemetery were compiled by Darlene Rice Dittmer for the "Pioneers to Power, Historical Sketches of the Grand Coulee Dam area," published in 1976.

I have re-typed it for this project in Jul 1999.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
