To reach the grave site, drive down Shumaker Grade from the Anatone country,
turn left (east) at the foot of the grade. The grave site is about 100
yards up the first small point. The area had been farmed around the grave
site, which is marked by a pile of rocks - no marker. The land is now
owned by Ray M. Horton. Location of grave: NW 1/4 of NW 1/4, Sec 36, T7N,
R45E, W.M.
Oscar Taplin relates that buried there before 1896 is the first wife of
Clarence Taplin. She had had a difficult childbirth, and the baby had
died. Her husband had ridden to Asotin for a doctor, but she was dead
when they returned.
