From Petersburg, Virginia drive about 40 miles southeast to Windsor. Go about three miles east on Shiloh Drive (Rt. 603). Shiloh Methodist Cemetery is located in a grove of trees on the northwest side of the road.

Shiloh was the name of an old Methodist church on Shiloh Drive northeast of Windsor. Old maps show it to be in the Indika VA community. The Shiloh Methodist Church built a parsonage for their minister in Windsor in 1893. In an effort to bolster up its declining membership after the congregation decreased drastically, they decided to relocate the church to nearby Windsor on the property adjacent to their parsonage.

In 1906, they moved the building to Church Street, where it remained for about fifty years until it was torn down and the land sold. Now there is no Methodist church in the Windsor area. Today, the site of Shiloh Church is marked by a fairly large cemetery, which remains in good condition thanks to the care of the Presson family who lives adjacent to the site.

These information was compiled by reading the tombstone inscriptions. Alexander Bischoff, Cory DeFreitas, Ben Delton, Brittany Evans, Daniel Evans, Michael Henderson, Chaz Hornbaker, Jeff Irwin, David Robertson, Peyton Robertson and I participated in the recording of this cemetery, which is complete up to Oct 06, 2007. This file contains all the known and visible burials. There was only one completely unreadable marker.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
