Lat: 37° 27' 23"N, Lon: 78° 14' 01"W

Contributed by Jim Cooke, Feb 06, 2006 [jecooke88@hotmail.com]. Total records = 15.

Beginning at Cumberland Courthouse proceed west on Rt 60 to Rt 45. Go left/south on Rt 45. At Rt 631 go left/east and proceed east along Rt 631 (Davenport Road) to Rt 641, and continue slowly on Rt 631 less than a mile.

The house & cemetery are located on the right (south) side of the road. Cemetery is in front yard.

Home was likely owned by Stephen Cooke, 1811-1842. Owned thereafter by Moses Smith, Spurgeon Smith. Byrd Smith said to be earliest grave. Wright family now owns this property.

I walked this cemetery in 1980. This includes all existing and legible markers and stones plus WPA information. Cemetery was in good condition.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
