History

Fairmount Cemetery was established in 1893. Numerous historic monuments date back to the 1800’s. The cemetery encompasses more than 57 acres and is designated as a Texas Historic Landmark. The cemetery is the final resting place for Buffalo Soldiers, Confederate soldiers, soldiers from World Wars I and II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Additionally, the cemetery has a memorial site for one of the Sept. 11 victims of the Pentagon attack. Many founders of the City of San Angelo, and their families, are interred at Fairmount.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
