Gerald is about 11 miles north east of Waco. Gerald Cemetery is located on F.M. Road 308, from Elm Mott take F.M. Road 308 East for 4.5 miles

Gerald was once a German Settlement with a post office, a gin, and a general store. When the railroad came through, the town moved to Leroy. All that remains in the community today is the cemetery and St. Paul United Church of Christ.

The cemetery is fenced with a large sign on the gate. It contains about 3 acres and is very nicely kept. Six family names predominate, but many others occur often throughout the cemetery. The six most common are; Casey (18), Leuschner (18), Lander (17), Drews (16), Schuetz (13), and Schiemenz (10).

The oldest stones found were:
George T. Martin 1833-1874
E. M. Morgan d. 1884
G. Y. Morgan d. 1885
Amarintha Gamble d 1887
Katie Harris d. 1887.

All these stones are located toward the back of the cemetery along both sides of the road that divides the left and right sides.

In 1984 The Central Texas Genealogical Society Inc. documented all the existing headstones/graves in the cemetery and there were 414 stones at that time. Gerald was a German settlement and many of the stones are written in German. The documented record was printed in a hardcover book entitled McLennan County, Texas Cemetery Records Vol. 7., and can currently be found in the Genealogy department of the Waco-McLennan County Library.

In December 1999 when I updated this book there were 896 plots purchased, out of 1,788 plots available. I have made every possible effort to assure the attached records are complete and accurate.
