Oak Hill Cemetery
Coolidge, Limestone County, Texas

Lat: 31° 50' 36"N, Lon: 96° 51' 28"W

Contributed by Bruce Jordan, Sep 30, 2004 [bjordan@glade.net]. Total records = 15.

From Highway 84 turn north on FM 2310. Go about 3 miles. The cemetery is located in a pasture on the west side of the road. It is difficult to see from the road. Must get permission from the owner to visit the cemetery.

The first cemetery established in the Coolidge, Texas area was Oak Hill. It is located on a portion of a land grant donated to William McCoy for his service in the Battle of San Jacinto.

One of William McCoy's daughters, Caroline Virginia, married J. W. Askew. She donated the land for Oak Hill Cemetery. Both Caroline and her husband are buried here. The last burial was in 1925. The cemetery is also known as Askew-McCoy Cemetery.

These records were compiled from a reading I did when I walked this cemetery in 2003. It includes all existing & legible headstones at that time.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
