Masters Cemetery
Limestone County, Texas

Lat: 31° 23' 47"N, Lon: 96° 29' 56"W

Contributed by Bruce Jordan, Dec 15, 2004 [bjordan@glade.net]. Total records = 17.

At Thornton starting from crossroads Hwy 14 and FM 1246, go southeast on FM 1246 about 3 miles. Turn left on LCR 761, go 1.1 miles to LCR 758 turn right and go 1.5 miles. The cemetery is on the right in a pasture on private land about mile from the road.

Mason H. Masters donated the land for the cemetery in the 1870s. First person buried here was M.D. Smith, 16 May 1879. Last person buried here was G. W. Boatler, Sr., 29 Nov 1916.

The cemetery is totally overgrown with no obvious care. It was difficult to be sure I had found all of them.

I walked and gathered this information by reading the tombstones in June 2003.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
