College Mound Cemetery is a perpetual care cemetery owned by College Mound Cemetery Association, under the auspices of College Mound United Methodist Church.

Cemetery History

College Mound Cemetery has its official established date as 1840, based on the year emblazoned on its entrance sign. However, the cemetery and the church it belonged was actually built until 1845.

The town of College Mound was originally settled by people from Indiana and Tennessee, arriving in the 1840s. It was named for a college that never materialzed. The church building itself was not erected until 1866, on donated land. The church building that exists today was built in 1897.
