Opened June 1, 2009, this 31-acre cemetery includes a covered, open-air structure for committal services, a visitor’s center, a computer kiosk that can help visitors locate a grave, and a memorial walkway for future monuments.

Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene is situated on the southern shore of Lake Fort Phantom near Abilene. The master plan for the cemetery anticipates a full build-out of 40,857 burial sites, including pre-placed crypts, cremains, memorials, and columbarium niches, as well as a committal service shelter.
