Clover Hill Cemetery is located west of Lott Falls, Texas USA. Driving south from Waco, on Highway 77, turn right onto State Highway (north) Waco Avenue (first street to the right). Drive approximately half a mile and enter through the arched entryway.

Named for waterfalls on the Brazos River, Falls County was created in 1850. By 1896, the growing town of Lott boasted shops, hotels, a newspaper, a band, churches and a volunteer fire department but no public cemetery. Emily Porter and Matte Dickson led citizens in finding a site and holding fund raisers to make it possible to establish the first cemetery for the town of Lott Falls.

The cemetery was named for the 'buffalo clover' originally blanketing the chosen site. Clover Hill Cemetery is also known as Lott Cemetery. Clover Hill Cemetery was named a Historic Texas Cemetery in 2002.

This is a complete transcription, compiled by my uncle, Lu Ouida Vinson Phillips, in 2010 and I have submitted it for publication with his permission. I also have a copy of all of the photos he took to assist his read of the cemetery.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
