Vale #1 Cemetery (Beals Cemetery)
Vale, Butte County, South Dakota

Lat: 44° 37' 08"N, Lon: 103° 26' 16"W
Vale Township, Section 31

Contributed by Nicole Shiffrar, Apr 03, 2007 [robb22@msn.com]. Total records = 71.

This cemetery is located 1.5 mile west from Vale, in Butte County. If you were coming south on Hwy 79 from Newell, make a right onto the Vale Cut-Off Rd, and drive about a quarter mile west. The cemetery is on your left or the south side of the road.

This cemetery was established in 1887, and has been designated a Pioneer Cemetery. On the historic sign they call it the Beals Cemetery. Not sure why that name was used. The cemetery is very well preserved and is a Historic Site.

This cemetery has been renamed the Beals Cemetery by the Historical group. It is also known as the Old Vale Cemetery.

This is a complete transcription done by myself by writing down what was on all existing and legible headstones on Mar 31, 2007.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
