Jones Cemetery
Lodge, Colleton County, South Carolina

Lat: 33° 02' 52"N, Lon: 80° 56' 36"W

Contributed by Randy R. Jones, Apr 17, 2007, last edited May 07, 2007 [randyjones1963@aol.com]. Total records = 13.

The cemetery is about two miles south of Lodge SC on Hwy 64, headed towards Walterboro. The cemetery is on the right side, only a few feet off of the highway, before you come to the railroad crossing.

The Jones Cemetery is very small and fenced in. The cemetery sits on the edge of a very large track of private farmland. The land and the Jones Cemetery once belonged to its original owners, my great-great-great grandfather, Robert E. Jones and Melinda Caldwell. It has been neglected and abandon for many decades. The cemetery is terribly overcome with trees and brush. There have been no burials there since 1970.

I have transcribed from the readings done on Sep 11, 2006 when Terry Courtney and I visited the cemetery, copied and photographed the tombstones.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
