McVay Cemetery
Aleppo, Greene County, Pennsylvania

Lat: 39° 49' 01"N, Lon: 80° 24' 57"W
Aleppo Township

Contributed by Brad Jarvis, Nov 22, 2009, last edited Nov 24, 2009 [forza@windstream.net]. Total records = 59.

At the Route 18/21 split just west of Rogersville, make a left at the blinking yellow light on to Route 18 South. Follow for 2.5 miles until you come to the small town of Holbrook. Make a right on Bristoria Road and follow for 7 miles. Make a left on to Long Run and follow for 4.3 miles. Turn right on Blacks Creek Road and follow for .2 miles. The cemetery is located beside the road on the left hand side.

The McVay Cemetery is marked by a sign, is in good condition and is maintained on a regular basis. All but a few of the of the stones are standing, but several are very difficult to read. I found four fieldstone markers as well as two stones that are now completely illegible. (Ed. note: some maps incorrectly call it the McDay Cemetery)

I walked this cemetery on Nov 08, 2009. This transcription is complete and includes all existing stones. I also have digital photographs of all the stones as well as many views of the cemetery itself and would share them with anyone interested.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
