Henderson Cemetery
Bluff, Greene County, Pennsylvania

Lat: 39° 47' 34"N, Lon: 80° 18' 15"W
Jackson Township

Contributed by Brad Jarvis, Apr 04, 2009, last edited May 13, 2009 [forza@windstream.net]. Total records = 18.

From the Route 18/Route 21 split in west Waynesburg, follow Route 21 West approximately 6.5 miles through the town of Rogersville to a blinking yellow light. Turn left at the light and continue for another .4 miles. Make a left on to Hargus Creek Road, passing by West Greene High School. Follow for 5.2 miles until you come to the small town of Bluff and a T intersection at the top of a large hill. Turn left onto Bluff Ridge Road and follow for .1 miles. Make a right onto Mount Zion Road. Follow for .7 miles until you come to a house on your left. The cemetery is located in the middle of a field just over a small wooded noll to the right of a large shed that sits adjacent to the house.

The Jones family owns the land on which the cemetery sits. Please ask permission from the land owner before going to the cemetery.

This cemetery is in poor condition and is not maintained. Trees and brush have grown around it now and remnants of an old fence surround it. A few of the stones are down, but most are still legible. I found two fieldstone markers as well as one base without a stone. I have included portions of a transcription by Dorothy and James Hennen written on 17 Sep 1967 for the few stones that are difficult to read today. They are still identifiable, but certain potions are worn away. These entries are marked with an (*).

I walked the cemetery on 14 Mar 2009. This transcription is complete and includes all existing stones. I also have digital photographs of all the stones as well as many views of the cemetery itself and would share them with anyone interested.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
