Fordyce Cemetery
Center Township, Greene County, Pennsylvania

Lat: 39° 48' 52"N, Lon: 80° 18' 48"W

Contributed by Brad Jarvis, Mar 16, 2008, last edited Apr 08, 2009 [forza@windstream.net]. Total records = 85.

From Waynesburg follow Route 21 West through the town of Rogersville to a blinking yellow light. Bear left at the light and continue for another half mile. Make a left on to Hargus Creek Road, passing by West Greene High School. Follow for approximately 4 miles. Turn right onto Fordyce Road and follow approximately 1 mile. Look for a small log cabin with a red roof on your right. The path to the cemetery goes past the cabin and up a hill. The cemetery may be hard to see from the road if the leaves are on the trees.

The cemetery is still maintained and is surrounded by a fence with a gate. Some stones are worn badly from age, and some have fallen. I also found one unidentified fieldstone marker, two completely illegible stones and few bases with no stones. The last burial took place here in 1985.

I walked the cemetery on Nov 25, 2007. This transcription is complete and includes all existing stones. I also have digital photographs of all the stones as well as many views of the cemetery itself and would share them with anyone interested.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
