Evans Cemetery
Aleppo, Greene County, Pennsylvania

Lat: 39° 48' 55"N, Lon: 80° 25' 60"W
Aleppo Township

Contributed by Brad Jarvis, Jan 23, 2010, last edited Jan 25, 2010 [forza@windstream.net]. Total records = 15.

From the Route 21/Route 18 junction just west of Rogersville, turn onto Route 18 South and travel 8.7 miles. Turn right on Aleppo Road. Follow for 3.8 miles. Guthrie Road will be on the right. The cemetery is located in a field on the right side of Allepo Road just past Guthrie Road, which is about .9 mile south of Aleppo PA. Although it is located close the road, it is very difficult to see as it is located in amongst some dense trees.

This cemetery is abandoned and is in very poor condition. A barbed wire fence does surround the cemetery. Many of the stones have fallen, however all but one remains completely legible. I also found 23 fieldstone markers. The cemetery is located on private property owned by Mr. Allan Lee Simms. Please ask permission from the land owner before going to the cemetery.

I walked the cemetery on Jan 23, 2010. This transcription is complete and includes all existing stones. I also have digital photographs of all the stones as well as many views of the cemetery itself and would share them with anyone interested.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
