This cemetery is 2.1 miles north of Hwy 199 on Riverbanks Road, about 4 miles from Grants Pass city center. Turn right on private drive directly across from Marcy Loop, through gate, turn right into field, follow road to end.

Sloan Cemetery was established in 1853 and is now considered to be a Pioneer Cemetery. The cemetery was active between 1853 and 1948, and many graves are not marked or have lost their markers. No plot numbers are assigned.

It is located on private property with a "trespass access". It is suggested that you go with someone who has been there before. This is not a rain event. From the end of the road, you must cross open pasture, which can be very muddy and dotted with cow-flops (and occasionally the cows, too).

I visited and transcribed this cemetery in the summer of 1999 from all existing stones.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
