Moseley Gravesite
Jackson County, Oklahoma

Contributed by Patti O'Bannon, Nov 21, 2003, last edited Jul 24, 2007 [msobannon@att.net]. Total records = 1.

From Altus, OK, take Hwy 62 West for about 8 miles. Turn South on Highway 6 (toward Olustee, OK). Turn West on Prairie Hill Road, go approximately 2 miles. The grave will be on the north side of the road in a ditch. If you get to the old school building which is falling down, you have gone too far.

I hope to learn more about this man. Stories abound about exactly what happened to him.

He is buried in a ditch so as not to be on anyone's land. The people in the area did not want a cemetery started on the land they were working.

He has a granddaughter living in Texas who was responsible for the concrete cover on his grave.

I surveyed this burial site in the summer of 2003.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
