Lew Beach Cemetery is located on the Beaverkill Road in the town of Rockland, NY. It is approximately 11 miles from Old Route 17, Livingston Manor, NY.

Lew Beach Cemetery was originally called Sprague Cemetery. It has also been incorrectly called the Davidson Cemetery, because that is a separate, very small cemetery down the road from this cemetery. The earliest burials are from the very early 1800s.

The official name of the cemetery is Lew Beach Cemetery. It is owned and operated by the Lew Beach Cemetery Association. The condition of the cemetery is very good, it is well kept, mowed regularly, etc.

I am the secretary and read the inscriptions on the stones in 1995, the undertaker records (back to 1894) and newspaper clippings. They are still burying people there, approximately 8 to 10 a year.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
