Cemetery History
Old Methodist Cemetery had been the primary burying ground for the original Methodist Church. In 1858, it's congregation dismantled the church building and relocated it about 2 miles west in the town center of Coram. Today, it still stands there as "Trinity United Methodist Church". When the church was moved, the congregation began using a new burying ground, "Trinity Methodist Cemetery".
A sign erected at the site of this Old Methodist Cemetery reads...
"Please respect and enjoy, Burial Ground No. 44, Old Methodist Cemetery, Middle Island, At the Heart of Brookhaven, Drive Carefully, Don't Litter, Smile!"
