Union Field Cemetery is a Jewish burial ground owned and operated by Congregation Rodeph Sholom.

History

Originally, Congregation Rodeph Sholom held a burial ground on Park Avenue in Manhattan. After realizing the inadequacy of that space for a cemetery, the Congregation acquired over sixty acres of land at its present location on Cypress Avenue. Union Field Cemetery was dedicated in 1878. In 1926, at the time when the Congregation was planning its move from Lexington Avenue to its current location on West 83rd Street, a new gatehouse was dedicated at Union Field Cemetery to replace the chapel built in 1889.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
