Cemetery History

East Bloomfield Cemetery officially dates back to 1838, but its origins goes back to 1798. Benjamin Keyes, an East Bloomfield village pioneer, had reserved land "on the hill" for a church in 1798, which was completed 1808. A church graveyard was started next to the church.

In 1838, the church was torn down and replaced with an academy. Today, this building is now home to the Bloomfield Historical Society. The church's graveyard was re-located to its present location that same year.
