Cemetery History

Volusia Cemetery was at one time named Holcomb Cemetery, named after the land owner A. Holcomb whose land surrounded the cemetery. Sometime in the early 1900s, the name was changed to Volusia Cemetery. Today, the cemetery is split into two parcels, as far as tax records are concerned, with the northern half being named "Volusia Cemetery", and the southern half being named, "Holcomb Cemetery". The southern half has the visible tombstones, while the northern half appears to be empty.

However, if you visit the cemetery all you will see is one cemetery with a sign bearing the name, "Volusia Cemetery".

Today, the cemetery is managed by Volusia Cemetery Association.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
