Contact Cemetery
Contact, Elko County, Nevada

Contributed by Christine Storey [chrissy_7@q.com].  Total records = 1.

Highway 93, 66 miles from Twin Falls Idaho, 16 miles south of Jackpot Nevada. Contact lays between Jackpot and Wells Nevada.

A road runs west from the highway about 3/4 mile to where a road branches off to the North running generally parallel to a power line that ends at the town dump, another 1/4 mile. About 100 yards before reaching the dump, stop and look down the hill and you can see a brown headstone at the grave. On down the hill to the East you can see two large rocks about 15 feet high.

Cemetery does not seem to be used any longer. Contact Nevada is more of a town of the past.

This record was from a headstone and also from a newspaper clipping. Only one grave has a headstone. There could be at least 10 more graves. Four tin cans were placed as if to mark graves. I visited this burial place in August of 2003.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
