To reach this cemetery on Garden State Parkway, exit 124, turn left onto county road 670, which becomes Washington Ave. One also can access it from U.S. Rt. 9 south, right onto Davis Lane. There are entrances on both Davis Lane and Washington Ave.

Saint Mary Church and cemetery was founded by Irish immigrants. Both were established on this site in 1851. In 1853 a larger church was built on Augusta St., South Amboy, NJ.

The former church (chapel) was demolished and the site remains a cemetery owned and maintained by Saint Mary Church. It still has room for new burials and a musoleum has been added.

I started walking and transcribing this cemetery in Feb of 2006, completed in Jun of 2007.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
