Old Lumberton Cemetery
Burlington County, New Jersey

Lat: 39°57'33"N, Lon: 74°48'21"W

Submitted by Judith Irwin Williams [rositatwo@aol.com].  Total records = 36.

Route 541 to Edward Street turn right until street ends and then turn right again. It is an area of graves that appear to have been forgotten, behind the Covenant Baptist Church.

This cemetery lies in behind the Covenant Baptist Church but is not related to that church. It is the Old Lumberton Methodist Church Cemetery. They stopped burying people here because the water table was too high.

It is very old and not accepting new burials. These are all the names that we could decipher as they are in sad shape.

My daughters Sheryl Grice and Jacqueline Foreman helped me read all the headstones on Apr 12, 2002. We found this very lonely cemetery behind a berm or dike on a dirt road in Lumberton behind the church.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
