Hale Cemetery
Steele County, North Dakota

SW 1/4 Section 5 Newburgh Township

Lat: 47°32'10"N, Lon: 097°50'08"W

Contributed by Anne Braun May 24, 2001 [annieb1961@comcast.net]. Total records = 20.

It is a Norwegian pioneer cemetery dating back to 1879. The majority of the burials are from the Sondreaal family who homesteaded there. There has not been a burial since 1947.

The cemetery is neglected with broken, fallen, and toppled headstones and a lot of overgrown prairie grass. It is abandoned and appears that nobody is taking care of it. There might be some more headstones under neath the prairie grasses and thatch.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
