To reach cemetery from Wahpeton take Hwy 13 west for 3.5 miles. Turn left or south onto 177th Ave SE and continue for one mile. Cemetery will be on the right at the intersection with 18th St SE.

This is the first settlers cemetery and dates back to about 1865. The last burial was in 2002 according to the existing stones.

The condition of this cemetery is very good, but many tombstones are broken and/or appear to be falling. It is maintained by volunteers.

I walked and read this cemetery on Jul 07, 2006. This includes all existing and legible headstone and marker readings.

Misc:
Otto Monument - 1
* There are three stones in the Dorsey fenced area. They lost 4 children to the fever, days apart. A tree was planted by the father at the time, and the tree grew 4 big trunks. The tree finally died, and a monument of a tree trunk was put in its place. (taken from history book)

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
