Matthews Cemetery
Wake County, North Carolina

Cor. SR. 1010 & Summercrest Dr.
White Oak Twp. NC

Lat: 35° 42' 31"N, Lon: 78° 48' 25"W

Contributed by Shirley Olson, Apr 03, 2004 [shirley32olson@yahoo.com]. Total records = 11.

From Hwy #1 South, take Exit #96, onto SR. 1010, go east (towards Cary) for 1.5 mi., to the intersection of Summercrest Dr. and 1010 Rd. Summercrest enters 1010 from the north side and does not cross 1010. Drive in and park on the shoulder of the road. There is no good parking location.

This .22 acre family cemetery is obscured by shrubbery which completely shields it from view until you enter it. The cemetery is neatly mowed. The owner of record is a member of the Matthews family.

The most recent burial was in 2001, however, substantial residential development in the immediate area makes it questionable that there will be continued use of this cemetery although there is sufficient space for more graves.

This is the second of 2 Matthew family cemeteries found on SR. 1010, about .6 miles apart. Both contain members of the same family.

I walked and read this cemetery on Apr 02, 2004. It contains only existing and legible headstones or markers.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
