Macedonia Cemetery
Wake County, North Carolina

2500 Mid Pines Rd.
Swift Creek Twp., NC

Lat: 35°39'01"N, Lon: 78°50'00"W

Contributed by Shirley Olson, May 05, 2002 [shirley32olson@yahoo.com]. Total records = 79.

From Hwy. I-40 on the south side of Raleigh take the Gorman Street (SR 1571) Exit # 295. Turn south at the stop sign and come to Tryon Rd. (SR 1009), about 1/4 mile. At the traffic light turn left (east) on Tryon and go 3/10 mile to Mid Pines Rd. (SR 1372) and turn right. Go 1/10 mile to the cemetery on the right side of the road. Drive in and park.

There was a church at this location years back, according to Ms. Mary Champion, 80 years of age, who lives down the road and has family buried at the cemetery, but no trace of a church exists currently.

There appears to be sufficent space for additional burials. The cemetery has many unmarked graves, some of which have rough stones indicating burials, some have faded funeral home markers, unreadable. A pretty little statue on the front right has no identifying marks. The graves are scattered, with family plots in various locations. Honeysuckle scents the air and large trees shade the tombstones.

I have transcribed from tombstones readings which I did on May 3, 2002.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
