Jeridan Cemetery
Wake County, North Carolina

Heavy Weight Road
Wake County NC

Lat: 35°40'06"N, Lon: 78°47'04"W

Contributed by Shirley Olson, Dec 17, 2001 [shirley32olson@yahoo.com]. Total records = 6.

Directions from Raleigh: From I-40 take the Lake Wheeler Rd. (SR 1375) exit South to SR 1010, turn right (West) about 1/2 mile to a left turn onto Johnson Pond Rd. (SR 1404). A short distance on Johnson Pond Rd., take a right turn on Heavy Weight Rd. (SR 2400) which is paved a short way and is then graveled. Follow the road less than 1/2 mile to a small cemetery, unfenced, in the middle of several homes scattered here and there in this semi rural area.

The tombstones are in good condition and the area tidy. This is an African American family burial ground. Descendants of the Woodard family reside on the property. The cemetery appears to be in the path of the proposed Southern Wake Expressway Corridor.

Transcribed from tombstones by Shirley and Gordon Olson, Dec 10, 2001.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
