Contributed by Brandy H. Hartsell, Jun 21, 2003, updated Dec 11, 2003 [branandjohn@hotmail.com]. Total records = 20.

Take Hwy 73 West from Albemarle to Mt. Pleasant. At first stop light take a left onto S. Main St, which turns into Mt. Pleasant Rd. about a mile or so later. Go two miles from stop light to Barrier Store Rd. (will be on your left) Turn onto Barrier Store Rd. and go almost two miles and there will be a road on your left call Hahn Scott Rd. Take a left onto this road. As you turn left there will be another road called Long Run Farm Rd. Take a left onto this road. Go almost all the way to the end of the road and the cemetery is located in plain sight on the right side of the road.

There will be a big sign saying "Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church". There will be no church just the cemetery. This is on sign at Cemetery:

"In 1887 formed Lutheran Union. Deeded to Holy Trinity in 1909. The church relocated and now is Mount Gilead Lutheran Church on Hwy 73 west toward Mount Pleasant."

Crystal G. Elliott and I walked and surveyed this cemetery in Jun of 2003. Cemetery is in fair condtion. Some tombstones very hard to read.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
