Masonic Cemetery
Twin Bridges, Madison County, Montana

Lat: 45° 32' 34"N, Lon: 112° 18' 44"W

Contributed by Pam Burchfield, Jul 04, 2006 [ouroots@yahoo.com]. Total records = 38.

To reach this cemetery drive east out of Twin Bridges, on Third Ave, for less than a mile. Cemetery is on the right/south side of the road, which is north of the airport.

This old cemetery was established about 1901 by the Masonic Temple. After about 1973 it has been abandoned. This cemetery houses its founding members of the area.

Within the past year the cemetery was boxed in with a fence and now there is a ranch that is using the area to graze their cattle in the fenced area. Unfortunately the gate to the cemetery was left open and the cattle have been roaming freely on top of the graves as well as depositing what they ate on some of the headstones. Some local kids in the area use the cemetery for their parties leaving their evidence behind as well as tipping and breaking the gravestones.

There are several rock and stick markers too numerous to count and be accurate, one just says 'Baby' another unmarked grave.

I walked and read this cemetery on Jun 25, 2006. This includes all existing and legible stones and markers.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
