To reach Mount Gilead Cemetery from Water Valley, Mississippi, travel south on Hwy 7, and turn right onto CR90. The first cemetery you come to on the right is Bethlehem. Mount Gilead is next on the left in the corner at the intersection.

This is the cemetery owned by the Mount Gilead Baptist Church. The Mount Gilead church, by the cemetery, is no longer being used for services, however, the cemetery and stones are well cared for.

I did this transcription from a complete census of the information on the stones, completed on May 9, 2006.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
