Start your trip to this cemetery in downtown Lucedale, Mississippi. Take highway 98 west out of town going 4.7 miles. Here you will find the intersection with highway 98 by-pass. Take a left (west) onto highway 98 towards Hattiesburg, Mississippi, going about 2.5 miles. You will cross a small bridge on the highway and immediately on your left will be McInnis Lane. Take this left hand turn and go about .2 tenths of a mile where this cemetery will be located on your left. The cemetery is well kept and located in a small open field.

This property is on a part of what is called the Horace McInnis homestead, he was the father of J.W. McInnis the current landowner.

In speaking with J.W. McInnis, he stated at one time the cemetery was much larger. Years ago in clearing the land someone pushed a lot of the headstones down into a marshy branch. Also he stated that a group of visitors had visited the cemetery years ago and had a dedication ceremony honoring Charlotte (Lee) Ball, they said she was the sister to Gen. Robert E. Lee. This information has not been authenticated as of today.

I walked this cemetery on Jan 07, 2009, taking information from the headstone inscriptions.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
