The Ragsdale Cemetery was named for Joel Ragsdale, born in Tennessee on May 4, 1806. He moved to Polk County by November 1, 1849. His first wife, Jane E. Alread, died about 1850 and was buried in their garden. Joel deeded on acre of land out of the West half of the NW quarter of S27, T34, R21 for a cemetery on September 29, 1881. Joel died on July 4, 1883.
