Norland Cemetery
Roseau, Roseau County, Minnesota

Contributed by Marjorie Broten, Dec 14, 2009 [mjbroten@centurylink.net].

- Deed record No. 100 Anna Lindgren a widow to Salol Lutherska Missions Forening, 27th Mar 1914, all land details called out it is shown on County atlas's as 1.75 acres.

- Misc Record No 19131 Oct 1940 states Articles of Incorporation of Norland Lutheran Church & carrying out duties as set for the Norland Lutheran Church.

- Deed Record No. 25123 Dec 1975 State of Mn to Norland Free Lutheran Church, aka Nordland Free Lutheran Church Conveyance of Forfeited for non pay of taxes & purchased price paid in full Also an easement for road papers.

- 189494 Filed Record 24 May 1988 recorded in book 347 page 80 Norland Lutheran Church Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund whereas the Norland Lutheran Church of Salol MN, maintains a cemetery of at least one-half acre, to wit: a 4.75 acre cemetery in Sec 13, whereas 3 trustees have signed off.

I was able too contact only one of them, a Mr. Voll, and he said when the Salol Mission group resolved, most members joined in with this Norland Free Lutheran Church, as the cemetery acres are 1.75 marked as this Salol Lutheran Mission Forening Cemetery & adjourning 3 acres marked as Norland Lutheran church can only be found in the 1973 & 1976 Roseau County Atlas's so far (I will look more) so a good paper trail is found. It seems a sign was never erected for the old 1.75 acre cemetery, as someone dropped the ball.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
