Garden of Peace Cemetery is owned and maintained by the Flint Islamic Center of Swartz Creek.

History

Garden of Peace Cemetery opened in 2009 after local members of the Flint Islamic Center wanted a cemetery that interred bodies in accordance to traditional Islamic burial rites. Bodies are buried with their heads facing the Kaaba in Mecca, and graves sites have wide rows on either side so that visitors and lawn equipment don't have to walk over graves.

The cemetery sits on 10 acres of land and is located approximately 5 minutes from the Flint Islamic Center. Development of the grounds is currently in Phase I, consisting of three sections, Section A, which has been developed contains 927 plots, Section B, which has yet to be developed contains 612 plots with an additional 245 plots, Section C, which is also undeveloped contains 723 plots. Over 2,500 plots total.

Gardens of Peace Cemetery has the ability to add more plots as needed in Phase II.

    What makes us Different?

    Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
