Bayne Cemetery
Oxon Hill, Prince George County, Maryland

2604 Kingsway Road, Oxon Hill MD

Lat: 38° 47' 18"N, Lon: 76° 57' 48"W

Contributed by Anne Braun, Nov 03, 2004 [annieb1961@comcast.net]. Total records = 19.

In Oxon Hill, from the intersection of Tucker Road and Bock Road, go north on Bock Road for 1.6 miles until you reach Kingsway Road, turn east onto Kingsway Road and go northeast for .25 miles. The cemetery is on the north side of the road.

This cemetery contains members of the Bayne family who once owned the land around the cemetery. The first burial occured in 1800 with the last in 1901.

The cemetery is fenced and in good condition. It is being taken care of by an elderly member of the Bayne Family.

There is also a slave cemetery near this one, but the neighbor I spoke with does not know who is buried there. There is also a monument dedicated to Lt. William Bayne and his family which was put there by the Daughters of the American Revolution.

I walked and read this cemetery on Nov 02, 2004. I compared my findings with the book "Stones and Bones" pub. in 1984.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
