From the intersection of Highways 210 (Indian Head Highway) and 227 (Marshall Hall Road) go north on Highway 227 for 1.5 miles. The cemetery is next to the church on the east side of the road.

This cemetery began as a small family cemetery, situated near the manor on the Catawaba farm, which was owned by the Briscoe family. This family used it for their burials until the early 1900s, when the Macedonia Baptist Church purchased the land. Some of the original burials were removed to the Saint John Episcopal Cemetery on Bumpy Oaks Road near Pomokey. Records show about 6 of the original burials are still in this cemetery.

Now it is a small African American church cemetery that is owned and maintained by the Macedonia Church. This church is Southern Baptist and African American. It is well taken care of but there are many with only funeral home markers to mark their graves.

I walked and read this cemetery on Feb 22 & 24, 2004.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
