In Bryans Road, from the intersection of Highways 210 and 227, go south on Highway 210 for 1 mile until you reach Chapmans Landing Road, turn there and go south/southwest for 1.5 miles until you reach the entrance to the park. You can park your car there. Go past the gate down a dirt road for .25 miles until you reach the Coastal Woodland Trail, follow the trail for about 1 mile until you see the cemetery. The cemetery is about .25 miles from the Potomac River.
I got some of the background information off of the park brochures that are available when you enter the park.
A small family cemetery. The Chapmans lived on the land for about 150 years. (1750-1900) The built their manor house, Mount Aventine in 1840. The cemetery started with the burial of Pearson Chapman Sr. who died in 1784.
The last burial took place in 1877. Today the land, monor house and cemetery belongs to Charles County Parks Department. From April-October, on the second Sunday, they do have an open house at the State Park. You can visit and walk the trail at anytime between dawn to dusk.
I visited this cemetery on Oct 09, 2004. This includes all existing and legible headstone and marker readings.
