To reach cemetery from Pikesville take MD Route 140 (Reisterstown Road) northwest. This is northwest of I-695 (exit 20). From the intersection with I-695 it is .86mi, then right onto Stone Chapel Lane, which leads to the cemetery.
This cemetery was established about 1919, by the Stone Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church, with the first burial on Jan 01, 1920. The cemetery is on church property.
This cemetery is now owned and maintained by the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 10911 Reisterstown Rd., Owings Mills, MD and is still active with 1-2 interments per year. We found the cemetery in very good condition. It is kept mowed regularly and there are only a few fallen stones.
The row designations begin in the southwest corner (left edge of the parking lot) and work north and east. Rows 1 through 14 are at the left side of the front walk. Rows 15 through 23 are at the rear of the church and hall. Rows 24 through 30 are at the right side of the front walk. The spaces do not necessarily progress in a straight line, especially for family plots.
J. W. McGrain and I walked and read this cemetery in 1972, and updated it in 2008 from tombstone inscriptions, sexton records, previous transcriptions. This contains all existing and legible stones and markers to this date.
