Saint Jean the Baptist Cemetery, also known as, Saint John the Baptist Cemetery is located at 310 Wretham Rd in the Town of Bellingham, in Norfolk County, Massachusetts. There are over 16,000 interments. There are an office and garage on the property that maintains this cemetery, as well as Precious Blood Cemetery. This is a Roman Catholic cemetery.
In 1954, Hurricane Carol caused major flooding in the area. Parts of the retaining wall of Precious Blood Cemetery (located in nearby, Woonsocket, Rhode Island) collapsed and sent more than 50 graves floating downstream. The remains were recovered and were buried in a mass grave in Saint Jean the Baptist Cemetery. A monument was erected in the spring of 2008. This is located near the back of the cemetery.
