The Gibson Family Cemetery is a small cemetery outside of Corydon, Kentucky. We were only there once, back in the summer of 1976. There was no gate or formal entrance that we can remember, and the little cemetery was in terrible shape. My husband mowed one day, and the following day we went back to write down all of the inscriptions that we could read on the tipped over and worn stones.

We contacted a cousin, Jan Gibson, to take our records back to the cemetery in 1981, so as to confirm and make corrections to the dates, etc as we had written them. We recognize her for her efforts.

We do not have any access to plot records, burial records or death records, and the following is taken as best as we could from the stones themselves and nothing more. Surnames are alphabetized, and we made every effort to group families together. Our living relatives there now are elderly and incapable of keeping up the cemetery, and we have no idea if it is being mowed or anything. We are trying to remedy this situation by next summer. This little cemetery would be a good candidate for the Cemetery Restoration Project going on in America now.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
