The Corzine Cemetery is 1 mile east and 2.5 miles south of the community of Corbin.

The 1883 Atlas shows that this land was owned by William Corzine and the 1918 Atlas shows it belonged to J.A. Corzine. The first recording of a deed for this cemetery is as follows: James A. Corzine deeded a tract of land 295' N-S X 325' E-W in SE corner of NE 1/4 to the Spring Creek Cemetery Co. The deed was dated May 13, 1893, and recorded Apr 29, 1895.

A Quit Claim Deed was given by W.M. Corzine to the Corzine Cemetery District, dated Apr 22, 1958, and filed May 22, 1958, for the following described tract: Beginning at the Southeast corner of the Northeast Quarter, then South along East line of said section, 186'; then West 316'; then North 628' 6"; then East 6' to the corner of said Cemetery; then South 442' 6"; then East 6' to the corner of said Cemetery; then East along South line of said Cemetery to the place of beginning, and containing approximately 1.408 acres. A Warranty Deed dated Apr 5, 1962, and filed Apr 6, 1962, was executed to perfect the title to the following tract of land: Beginning at the Southeast corner of the Northeast 1/4 of Section 16, then North on the section line 442 1/2'; then West parallel to the South line of said section 325'; then South parallel to the East line of said section 442 1/2'; then East along the South line of said section 325' to the point of beginning. The first burial is believed to be that of Morgan E. Sturm, who died Oct 25, 1878. - From Cemeteries in Sumner County, Kansas by Harvey and Ruth Swan (1983).

The Corzine cemetery was read and compiled in March of 2000 by Elaine Clark, with the assistance of records and information furnished by the sextons, Paul and Carol Hess of Caldwell. Used by permission for publication online. To see a map click here.

What makes us Different?

Single-sourced, not crowd-sourced

Each transcription we publish comes from a single-source, be it the cemetery office, government office, church office, archived document, a tombstone transcriber. Other websites already do an excellent job of crowd-sourcing a single cemetery together. But genealogists also need to see the original records from a single source. That's what we offer.
